Manhattan Land Book of the
City of New York
The Manhattan Land Book of the City of New York was designed using Adobe XD. I created this prototype for my curation project, where students were assigned to curate a digital exhibit based on a collection or dataset.

OVERVIEW
I took New York Public Library’s Digital Collections: Atlases of NYC, and created a map using the images from the Manhattan Land Book of the City of New York from 1955. In the same collection, I found photographs taken in NYC in the 1950s, which I also used in my digital exhibit. After researching the locations of where the photographs were taken, I combined it with the Manhattan Land Book Atlases and marked the photographs on the atlas.
Living in the concrete jungle, we often forget about the lives that existed even a generation before us. Many NYC buildings have been around since a century ago, holding so much history. My goal for this project was to give the users a sense of what the city was like back in the 1950s, and to appreciate the architecture that can still be seen around NYC today.
